FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Pixion Names John Heng Director of Engineering

PLEASANTON, Calif. — John Heng has been named director of engineering for Pixion, developer of the PictureTalk Web-based solution for presentations and meetings.

Heng was a member of the team that left the Silicon Valley supercomputer firm of nCube to launch PictureTalk in 1995. He has been on leave for the past year to pursue studies toward a graduate degree in e-commerce.

In his new position, he will oversee the engineering team, focusing most immediately on future versions of the PictureTalk enterprise product and the new, hosted model of PictureTalk.

"We are planning the infrastructure for the highest level of reliability possible," Heng said. "Our standard is to have our servers online 24/7, 99.9 percent of the time. "

"The upcoming Version 3.7 will not only allow people to hold meetings over the Internet, but also will give them the ability to check calendars of the participants and send invitations to meetings by e-mail," he added. "Participants will also be able to share applications for the first time. "

"One of the most important features of Version 3.7," Heng added, "is the ability to control a computer remotely using PictureTalk. This feature will make technical support much easier because a help desk administrator will have the ability to fix a problem or install new software remotely, over the Internet. Another use for this feature will allow a trainer to demonstrate an application even if it was not installed on the remote machine. "

All of the PictureTalk solutions save travel time and costs with their ability to handle one-to-one communication or presentations to thousands of participants. Any application or file on the presenter's computer desktop can be shown to multiple viewers in an unlimited number of locations. Pixion's patent-pending technology conveys imagery over networks in real time, continuously adapting to the performance of individual systems so that participants with slow Internet connections do not limit the speed of the overall presentation.

With PictureTalk, a person who wants to attend a meeting can simply click on a Web browser to attend a presentation or join a meeting. No prior set-up is required, making PictureTalk the easiest and most flexible cross-platform solution for Web presentations and conferences.

Heng holds bachelor's and master's degrees in computer science and a master's degree in business administration from the University of San Francisco.
